The most basic function of headboards is to retain the pillow and other bed linens. Headboards may be strictly utilitarian, but frequently have aesthetic value and may be the decorative focus for a bedroom. Headboards may also be utilized to provide a wide variety of other functions, such as providing simple storage or being incorporated into the critical care functions of hospital beds. Different types of headboards are used for different purposes. These include the joint and separate headboards as well as the stylish headboards, which are only incorporated to enhance the look of beds.
